Kuriya Penthouse @ Orchard Central

How do I celebrate the end of exams? Fabulous food! I have been to other Kuriya branches but never Kuriya Penthouse. Heard good review from my mom plus seeing the advertisement "Lunch set from $36"... fine dining without the hefty price tag? Let's find out!

The most expensive set costs $150 ~ 90. They also have set lunch that average around $40 ~ $60. Most sets consists of appetizer, sashimi, miso soup, Chawamushi, dessert.

Appetizer: Homemade sesame tofu

Sashimi Salad

Salmon + Tuna

Una Don: I love their unagi with shreded egg, nori, fresh wasabi

Main dish for set 2: Teriyaki Gindara ( Cod Fish cooked to perfection, juicy much!) Comes with japanese rice and that's potato salad on the side.

Mini Chawamushi, there's also miso soup included in the set

The dessert consists of fresh fruits, green tea ice cream, green tea mochi with red bean sauce and peanut powder.

Total spent: $80 for 2 set lunch.

Skyve Elementary B&B @ Newton

This relatively new restaurant is located near Newton Circles Food Centre. Drive would be the most convenient way to get there. Although within walking distance from Newton MRT, it can still be quite hot to walk 10 mins in our sunny humid weather. Alternatively, take the buses down from bukit timah, and stop at the Shell Kiosk bus stop and cross the overhead bridge if you want to minimise the walking time/ distance.

Complimentary bread that comes with every Lunch set.

Lunch set salads

Main course: Duck Confit

Main Course: Grilled Trout on a bed of vegetables

Brunch Selections:
1. Eggs Benedict
2. Pancakes with Passion Fruit Butter

3. Salmon and avocado on Potato Rosti

Triple Three @ Mandarin Orchard

Located on level 5 of the Mandarin Orchard Hotel, right across from the hotel's concierge/ check in counter, you can expect Triple Three to offer you the "5 Star" standard.

Interior is well designed and clean. A comfortable environment to dine in.

The chef will cut the meat on the spot for you, so you can also specify the type and amount you wish to have. Prevent wastage, I like.

Dessert counter, ranges from local kueh lapis, to the usual mouse and cakes in bite size as well as ice cream.

I started my buffet with fresh slices of sashimi! It's so good =)

They also have separate counters for different cuisine. For example, japanese sushi counter, pasta ( approx 3 types ) , dim sum corner, Indian cuisines etc.

Overall an enjoyable lunch ( We had the groupon voucher so it was really worth the bucks, but will I go back without the discount.....?)
In any case, if you are heading there, my favourite would be unlimited amount of sashimi, tempura & mango puree pudding =)
